Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez Collins, also known as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins in the US as well as Mexico, is a Mexican-American sportscaster. She is the host of SportsNation as well as a SportsCenter anchor. In 2016, she joined ESPN. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta was bilingual from the age of nine. Her ability was crucial in securing her first job as a production assistant for Univision Miami in which she assisted the production of numerous shows, including Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. She was hired as reporter for CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. Then, in 2009 the news reporter moved into Rio Grande Valley Texas where she worked for KNVO TV 48 Univision as and Fox2 News. Covering stories related to the trafficking of drugs and immigration from both sides of the Mexico-Texas Border, she served as an anchor on KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel KNVO TV 48 at 5pm, then as a reporter for news in English at 9 pm and after which she became a news anchor until 10pm before returning back to KNVO TV 48, the Spanish channel. She also filled in for sports anchors and weather forecasters. Deportes 23 in Dallas, Univision's affiliate station in Dallas. There she had more duties. She covered The Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS World Series, the Dallas Cowboys and the NBA Postseason and the finals for FC Dallas FC Dallas Stars. Additionally, she was host of the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was promoted as a sports anchor to Despierta America Deportes' morning show. She held the same position in Primer Impacto magazine and Contacto Deportivo on UniMas Network. Antonietta's parents hail from Veracruz Mexico. They moved at some point in Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November of 1985. Her older sister is also hers. Her family relocated from Mexico to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. After a while, her parents separated and in the year 1995, Fabio Fajardo remarried. He passed away from kidney cancer in 2006. When on vacation Antonietta was staying at her sister's house in Canton Ohio. Her older Collins sister had just landed an offer to work. Antonietta was about to graduate from high school, but was already aware of the things she wanted to be doing. It was an amazing campus. The university also provided her with the major that she desired. After completing the requirements for high school, she enrolled in the University to pursue media studies. She developed a long-lasting relationship with her teacher Mark Bergmann who was the manager at WRMU 91.1 FM, a station of which she was a member. Professor Bergmann encouraged her to have self-confidence and was deeply touched by his passion for journalism.
